UPDATE TO THIS ARTICLE: Praise the Lord for the people of King's Way, the Peninsular-Florida District of the Assemblies of God, First Assembly of Fort Myers, and the National Disaster Relief Department of the Assemblies of God for help in restoring our roof. It is now repaired and we have some restoration to do on the inside. THANK YOU FOR THE PRAYERS and assistance!!!
On June 21, 2010 a storm moved through our area and we suspect it brought a tornado with it!
First of all, we thank the unknown passer-by who phoned the police department to report that our roof was having some issues.
As I drove up to the building, I could from the side road that the roof had been peeled back like the top of a sardine can. We didn't really want a sunroof - but there it was.
Inside the building, rain was pouring in from the large opening, and soaking the ceiling tile and insulation, as well as many of the instruments on the platform in the sanctuary.
Not long from the time I sent a text, and one of our Council members began to make some calls, we had a small army of people from King's Way ready to clean up. Unfortunately, while my camera recorded the early damage, it ran out of battery power and I didn't get shots of the WONDERFUL people from King's Way who came to help clean up. There were so many helping to clean up the inside, and a good number on the roof helping to roll back the crumpled metal and cover it with a 30x50 foot tarp.
We appreciate your prayers as we trust the Lord to help us. The roof must be replaced, and the affected areas dried out and cleaned up. As many in Florida are aware, our insurance policies often have a "wind deductible" that is usually associated with hurricane damage. However, it also applies to situations like this. In our case it is a 5% deductible, which means that on our building, valued and insured at $2.6 Million, the deductible is $128,000 for building and $21,000 for contents - so we appreciate your prayers that our God will provide and we'll be able to quickly make repairs before the rainy season continues. Any special offerings for this project may be made online by going to our online donation page HERE. Just put "roof" in the notes.
I can't tell you how blessed I was to see our King's Way family show up to help. And I know many others would have been there had they known as well. It demonstrates that the church is not the building, but it is the PEOPLE who are this wonderful body of Christ - full of faith that God will provide, evidencing the friendships as they work together, and functioning to serve Christ, His Kingdom, His Church, and the Community around us with joy and faithfulness. Thank you King's Way family!
We WILL have our regular services and look forward to all that God has ahead as we trust Him in this "storm" as well, and enjoy His grace and peace in the process! Thanks for your continued prayers - they DO make a difference!

We wish to continue in that tradition of honoring our Veterans, and thank you for helping to make this possible. After all, the freedoms we enjoy, including the freedom to worship, come because they are secured by the brave men and women who serve in our United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard. The least we can do is say "Thank You!"

E-mail if you have any questions, and we look forward to seeing you on Sunday, May 31st - Memorial Day weekend.
We had an AWESOME time on Saturday night October 31st as the building was transformed into a "Big Top" Circus theme! The doors opened after volunteers already had put in MANY hours of preparation. Our thanks to the volunteers from King's Way who worked so hard to make this happen, and to our sponsors who helped with candy and prizes. We would also like to thank the HUNDREDS of people who came to Big Top and brought their kids. How wonderful it was to see the happy faces of children and adults alike playing games, enjoying the refreshments, and taking home BUNCHES of candy! Thanks everyone for making this a great event. God loves the families of Cape Coral, and so do we! We look forward to seeing you Sunday at 10:00 AM - until then, enjoy the pictures!
